Frequently Asked Questions
Commissions
How do I book a portrait?
Fill out the commission request form on my website or email me with details. We’ll discuss size, style, reference photos, and your vision. Your spot is secured once the deposit is paid. I will provide updates as I work on the piece. Once finished, the remaining balance is due before shipping.
How long does a portrait take?
Time varies depending on the size and complexity of the portrait. Smaller portraits can take anywhere from 30 to 40 hours, while larger, more detailed ones can take 80 to 100 hours or more, especially if they involve multiple subjects or intricate details.
Every portrait is unique, but the average wait time is 4 to 8 weeks. If you need it sooner, contact me to see if a rush order is possible.
Can I request changes after the artwork has started?
I allow minor adjustments during the sketching phase, but major changes after drawing begins may require additional fees. I provide progress updates to ensure the final piece meets your expectations.
What do you need from me if I want a portrait?
I require reference photos to capture the details and personality of the subject. If you need help selecting a good reference, I’m happy to assist. Photos should show your pet from different angles. Also share anything special about their personality or story to make the portrait meaningful.
Does my portrait come with a background?
No, the price of the portraits does not include a background, you will only see the color of the paper. If you’d like to add a background, the price will increase accordingly, depending on the complexity of your idea.
How should I frame my portrait when I receive it? Do you offer framing or matting?
When you receive your portrait, it will include a detailed “Art Care Instructions” sheet, providing clear guidelines on how to handle and care for your artwork. Your portrait should be framed under glass with a framing mat (also referred to as a framing mount in some countries). It’s important to have your portrait framed by a professional framing shop, as they will use the appropriate materials to ensure it is properly sealed and protected. I leave this to the professionals and do not offer my own framing or matting services. For the best preservation, frame your portrait soon after receiving it to prevent potential damage from accidents, humidity, or dust.
Shipping & Returns
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, I offer worldwide shipping. International customers are responsible for any customs, fees, duties, or import taxes that may apply.
How is my artwork packaged?
Drawings are carefully sealed in a clear protective sheet with an acid free backing board. It is then shipped in a sturdy box to prevent damage. I take great care in ensuring your artwork arrives safely.
How long does shipping take?
U.S. orders typically take between 5 - 10 business days.
International orders typically take between 2 - 4 weeks, depending on location and customs processing.
If you need expedited shipping, please contact me before the completion of your portrait.
Refunds
Do you offer refunds on original artwork?
By booking your spot, I turn down other substantial and important projects to dedicate myself to your portrait. For this reason, the deposit is non-refundable.
Can I cancel a commission?
Commission deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel a commission, the in progress artwork will not be provided to you. I may choose to finish the piece and sell it at my own discretion. Canceling a commission forfeits all ownership rights to the finished piece.
About My Art
How long have you been drawing/painting?
I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child. I was the type of kid that was always drawing in the back of the room and filling up sketchbooks worth of drawings. In high school I focused on learning the basis of art and was encouraged by my teachers to pursue a future of making artwork. I graduated in 2022 with a BFA in Studio Art with a minor in Art History.
Do you teach classes or offer tutorials?
At this time, I do not offer classes, but I may share behind-the-scenes content and painting tips in the future. Stay tuned for updates!
Can I see your work in person?
Currently, my work is available online or in private collections, but I occasionally participate in gallery shows and events. Follow me on social media or check my website for announcements on public displays and showcases where you can view my artwork in person.
